Wanted to give my body a rest this week and looked for detox recipes to help with a reset. Even when you try to eat well most of the time, I don’t know about you, but sometimes I just want to give my body a break.
Went super light…almost all veggies, no dessert and a yummy detox smoothie. Found a couple of great recipes I altered just a bit and it all turned out very well. Give yourself and your body a break every now and then. You work hard, you keep going and sometimes a day of real rest will do you wonders….that goes for food for me as well.
I always encourage you to have fun with food. It is really enjoyable to know you made what is going in your body. You control the ingredients, the portions and the outcome. Even if it’s not perfect, get in there, get your hands dirty and be proud of yourself for putting your health and wellness on the top of that to do list of yours.
Let us know what your best Simply Yum this week will be.
This week’s menu:
- Breakfast: Detox green apple smoothie
- Lunch/dinner: All Veggie nutrient packed soup
- Water: Of course
Detox Green Apple Smoothie: I know many do not love the whole “green thing,” but this smoothie is packed with yummy, fabulous, good for you ingredients. Found this recipe at www.detoxinista.com. I altered this already yummy recipe just a bit by adding kale, turmeric and some fresh mint. Green apples, frozen pineapple and bananas with fresh lime combine for a good and good for you breakfast (or snack). Full recipe may be found at https://detoxinisita.com/detox-smoothie.
All Veggie Nutrient Packed Soup: This soup turned out really well and I would make it again. Only needed one pot, layered the ingredients and the flavors and the result was a yummy and hearty meal. Found a recipe at www.therecipecritic.com Altered this one just a tiny bit by adding more garlic and ginger than called for. Along with the parsley I added some cilantro and while simmering, added a bit of cayenne pepper. This will get me on track for a healthy week for sure. The full recipe may be found at https://thereipecritic.com/vegetable-detox-soup.
Water: This week’s water is lemon, lime, grapefruit and a few cucumber slices. Tossed in a few mint leaves and basil leaves as well. We all know how important it is to stay hydrated, so have some fun with your water too. Make it tasty and pretty. Makes all the difference in the world – it is the very first thing I consume in the morning and I drink it all day. I refill the pitcher several times and when the fruit starts to get bloated, I make a new batch. This is a super simple way to do a kind thing for your body.
